Bee Ridge Road at Grace Church is two-lanes with very limited capacity. The new volumes of traffic threaten to quickly overwhelm the roadway, leading to long queues that will take a lot of time to dissipate. Any left-turns into the proposed school will STOP through traffic behind them.

Even the 4-lane sections of Bee Ridge Road will experience significant traffic congestion, due to the increased pressure of up to 2,800 additional cars per hour. That puts stress on area intersections at Mauna Loa, the I-75 interchange, Cattleman, and possibly even Honore – especially left-turns. It will also cause stress to Lorraine Road and Palmer Blvd intersections and driveways.

Our four (4) our roundabouts have limited capacity and rely on “time gaps” between cars to allow others to feel safe entering. These can become clogged quickly.

Even with 4-lanes, can you imagine up to 46 ADDITIONAL vehicles per minute at a roundabout? With a steady stream of cars entering a roundabout – can you feel your own hesitancy to enter being increased? Now… take multiply a several second delay by several thousand cars. Prepare yourself to expect long traffic back-ups at our Bee Ridge Road roundabouts.
