SEERD Update

Today, Monday, August 21st, an appeal was filed in the appellate division of the12th Circuit Court in Sarasota County against the Sarasota County Board of Commissioners’ July 12th vote to grant Special Exception 1874.

The costs of drafting the appeal and pleadings, filing fees, and other expenses associated with the litigation will amount to approximately $16,000.00. We have been very fortunate so far in having generous donors, and we thank you again for having done so. It is our wish that new donors get involved, as we are asking those of you who have so generously donated in the past to consider doing so again.

We realize that reading repeated pleas for donations gets old. Please be aware that SEERD is here for the long haul - Hi-Hat Ranch has had their public Workshop, and will soon start releasing materials on the county website that will be pored over by our colleagues, fighting to protect your interests in preserving the character of our East End. Our own work is voluntary, but necessary legal representation is not.

The cumbersome and somewhat confusing signature box has been eliminated, and registering as a member can be done by anyone at no cost. Please remember that every member of your household over 18 can sign up as a member.
